Cliff v Cliff

October 2023—December 2023

Cliff v Cliff â€‹is a 2D platformer created for the Introduction to Video Game Design and Culture course at SUNY Polytechnic Institute during the Fall 2023 semester. The assignment required us to form small groups and collaborate to make a game. The game our group came up with is called Cliff v Cliff where the player must aim and jump from anchor point to anchor point to escape an erupting volcano.

The tasks I completed for this game included originating the game's concept (the main character scaling a cliff to escape), wrote the game's narrative (a researcher escaping an erupting volcano), composed music for the menu, level, and game over screen, and prototyped the jumping and freezing mechanic.

Gunslinger

August 2024—December 2024

Gunslinger was a strategy based video game that the entire class worked on for the Professional Game Production course during the Fall 2024 semester, where a professional environment was simulated. The players (or player and NPC) play as opposing gunslingers on the board, and their goal is to blow up their opponent's stable first. The player(s) can move or do other actions with their gunslinger or other townsfolk placed on the board in order to achieve their goal.

I worked on the design of the map, which involved making several iterations before the final one was selected. Pictured to the left is the final layout, which is an 8x8 grid with the buildings located symmetrically to avoid one player gaining an unfair advantage over the other. The lines in bold are areas that the player cannot move into from that direction, so they must enter from another.

While I designed the layout of the game's level, I also collaborated with the programming and art teams throughout the semester to ensure that the map met the requirements of the assignment and the needs of the other teams.
